Вила Wind & Fire is the dream seaside residence for our clients. It is situated on a rocky promontory along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, bordering 120 meters of shoreline. The location offers a 180-degree panoramic view of the sea, which was essential to integrate into the living spaces. The shape of the house was determined by the desire to open both the day and night zones toward the horizon, ensuring unobstructed views of the sea from every main living area.
The site orientation optimizes natural sunlight — the living area faces east and west, the kitchen receives morning sun from the east, and the bedrooms and bathrooms are oriented north with sea views. Extensive glazing allows sunlight to penetrate deep into the house, while the designed overhangs protect against overheating.
Large glass facades blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors. Maximizing glazing and opening the living area onto the covered terrace was particularly important to seamlessly connect interior and exterior spaces. This presented structural and framing challenges due to the size and height of the openings. The significant area of the covered terrace also added complexity, but we found solutions that satisfy both aesthetic and functional requirements.
Although the house is large in footprint, its predominantly single-story height makes it unobtrusive within the surrounding landscape. Our goal was to deliver a spacious, luxurious home that remains discreet and restrained in expression. To achieve this, we designed high ceilings, generous volumes, and expansive glazing, while carefully selecting materials and using minimalistic expressive means. The façades feature exposed concrete, glass, and metal, while flooring combines exposed concrete, wood, and natural stone. Our aim was to create a calm, cozy, and inviting environment — natural materials being the most logical choice for a residence seeking harmony with its surroundings.
The building’s form is clear and confident, with clean, elegant lines softened by the gentle shapes of the roof overhangs. Additionally, we have softened wall corners with wave-shaped façade panels. In terms of the architectural plan, no compromise was made on function: all spaces are logically arranged, with no wasted or non-functional areas.
The concept of “quiet luxury,” central to this project, is about the freedom to enjoy the natural gifts of this idyllic location. Spacious rooms open to the sea provide freedom for the spirit, while natural materials bring warmth and tranquility — qualities that are essential in contrast to the fast pace of modern city life.
