Architectural Project Inspired by Luxury Yacht Design
Location: Bergen, Norway
We present a project for a modern and unconventional single-family house located in close proximity to the marina in Bergen, Norway. The architecture is inspired by luxury yacht design — featuring characteristic curves, large terrace “decks,” and extensive glazing that opens up panoramic views of the sea and harbor.
A distinctive feature of the building is the stepped floor layout, where each successive level has a smaller footprint. This creates a sense of lightness in the overall volume and allows for spacious terraces on every level.
The house is designed over four levels, with the main living areas located on the middle two floors. The basement is partially exposed to the terrain thanks to a constructed retaining wall and graded landscaping, allowing for natural light and ventilation in the sunken areas.
The main floor includes a spacious living area with direct access to a large veranda and garden, as well as the master bedroom, connected to the living and kitchen areas. The upper residential level accommodates three en-suite bedrooms, each with a luxurious bathroom and walk-in closet. The top floor features a panoramic rooftop terrace with a lounge area and convenient elevator access.
The project combines elegant aesthetics, functionality, and a strong connection with the maritime environment, creating the feeling of living aboard a modern yacht, translated onto land.
