Villa Silent Pine — Contemporary Single-Storey Mountain Residence, Dragalevtsi, Sofia
Villa Silent Pine is a luxurious single-family residence located at the foot of Vitosha Mountain, in the prestigious Dragalevtsi district of Sofia. The architectural form is clean and modern — developed entirely on one level, yet subtly following the natural slope of the terrain with minimal intervention in the landscape.
The house is oriented to make the most of the favorable southern and southwestern parts of the plot while opening impressive panoramic views to the north, overlooking Sofia. Due to the pronounced slope of the site toward the north, one of the main design challenges was to ensure sufficient sunlight in the living area, kitchen, and main outdoor spaces. This was achieved through an L-shaped plan that allows light to enter from the west and south, while naturally forming a protected inner courtyard visible from almost all main rooms.
The residence is elevated above street level, with garages, storage, and technical spaces located beneath it — optimizing the use of the terrain and creating a functional split between the living and service zones.
To achieve maximum harmony with the surrounding nature, a large portion of the roof will be designed as a green roof, complemented by Velux skylights that provide natural daylight to the main staircase and living area.
The facades feature expansive glazing, oriented north toward the city and south toward Vitosha National Park. This contrast between the urban panorama and the mountain backdrop creates a sense of refined comfort, tranquility, and privacy — without compromising on modern luxury.
